Terms of Service
These Terms govern your use of Contents Lab. Please read them carefully — they explain what we promise and what we expect in return.
Last updated: 15 November 2025
1. Acceptance of the Terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Contents Lab platform, including the website at contentslab.app and any subdomains, the mobile applications, and the related APIs (collectively, the "Service"). The Service is operated by Contents Lab ("we", "us", "our").
By creating an account, signing in, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, you may not use the Service. If you are using the Service on behalf of an organisation, you represent that you have authority to bind that organisation to these Terms, and references to "you" apply to both you and that organisation.
2. Accounts
You must provide accurate, current, and complete information when creating an account, including a valid email address. You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for all activity under your account.
You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service. If you are between 16 and 18, you represent that your parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms on your behalf.
We may suspend or terminate access if your account information is inaccurate, your activity violates these Terms, or applicable law requires it.
3. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use the Service to:
store, publish, or transmit content that is unlawful, defamatory, infringing, harassing, or otherwise objectionable;
upload viruses, malware, or any other code designed to disrupt the Service or gain unauthorised access;
attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or otherwise extract source code from the Service (except to the extent applicable law prohibits this restriction);
use the Service to send unsolicited email or to scrape, crawl, or otherwise access the Service in a manner that sends more requests than a human could reasonably send;
use the AI agents to generate content that violates any third-party rights or applicable law, including content that impersonates another person without consent.
We reserve the right to remove content and suspend accounts that violate these rules. We do not pre-screen user content; we act on reports and on clear violations that we identify.
4. Your Content
You retain all rights to the content you upload, create, or publish through the Service ("User Content"). By using the Service, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, transmit, display, and process your User Content solely as needed to operate the Service for you.
You are solely responsible for your User Content and the consequences of publishing it. You represent that you have all rights necessary to submit your User Content and that doing so does not violate any third-party rights.
We do not claim ownership of your User Content. You may export your User Content as Markdown at any time. After account termination, we will delete your User Content within 30 days unless applicable law requires otherwise.
5. AI Features and Usage
The Service includes AI agents that generate outlines, research briefs, and draft text based on your inputs. AI output is probabilistic; we cannot guarantee accuracy, completeness, or fitness for any particular purpose.
You are responsible for reviewing and verifying any AI-generated content before publishing it. You must not represent AI-generated content as the work of a third party without their consent.
AI token quotas are set per plan. Tokens beyond the included quota are billed at the pay-as-you-go rates published on the Pricing page. We may suspend an account whose AI usage is, in our reasonable judgment, abusive or fraudulent.
5.1 Bring your own provider
You may configure the Service to use your own AI provider API key. When you do, your AI usage is billed to your provider account directly and not to us. You are responsible for keeping your provider API key confidential.
6. Payment and Billing
Paid plans are billed in advance on the cycle you choose (monthly, quarterly, or annual). Payment is processed by our payment partners (Stripe, PayPal, Paystack, Flutterwave). We do not store your full card number.
Subscription fees are non-refundable except as set out in our refund policy below. We may change our fees at any time; price changes take effect at the start of your next billing cycle following 30 days notice.
If a payment fails, we will retry with a grace period of 72 hours. After the grace period, the account is downgraded to the Free plan. Your data is preserved; you can upgrade again at any time.
6.1 Refund policy
Within 14 days of your first paid charge, you may request a full refund — no questions asked. After 14 days, refunds are issued pro-rata for the unused portion of an annual plan when you cancel. Monthly plans are non-refundable after the 14-day window. Refund requests go to billing@contentslab.app or through the contact form.
7. Termination
You may cancel your account at any time from the settings page. Account cancellation stops future billing but does not automatically delete your content — you can export it first.
We may terminate or suspend access if you violate these Terms, if your activity creates risk or legal exposure for us, or if we cease offering the Service.
On termination, all licenses granted to you stop immediately. Sections that by their nature should survive termination do survive: content ownership, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and governing law.
8. Disclaimer
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". We make no warranties, express or implied, including the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure. We do not warrant that AI-generated content is accurate or fit for any purpose.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, arising from your use of the Service.
Our aggregate liability for any claim arising from the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim, or one hundred US dollars (USD 100), whichever is greater.
10. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy (linked from the footer) describes how we handle your personal information. The Privacy Policy is incorporated by reference into these Terms.
11. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you by email and in-app at least 30 days before material changes take effect. Continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
12. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any dispute will be resolved in the courts of Lagos State, Nigeria — unless you are a consumer in a jurisdiction with mandatory consumer-protection laws that require otherwise.
13. Contact
If you have questions about these Terms, write to us at legal@contentslab.app or use the contact form on the Contact page. We respond within one business day.
